Living in a rural area with only approx. 44 families using our National School, St. Fintan’s in Lismacaffrey, in the year 2000 it was proposed and decided at a Community Development meeting to elect a committee and to authorise them to see about the possibility purchasing a field for sports. Land became available and thanks to the generosity of Dr. Tom Moore formerly from this
parish and the owner of the land, the |

committee under the chairman John Noel McGivney, secretary, Pat Duffy and treasurers Michael Dolan and Michael Earley purchased what is now known as Streete Parish Park. This is a community Sports Complex with a Gaelic Pitch, Soccer Pitch, Rugby Pitch as well as junior pitches. The official opening of the park was performed in 2003 by local man and Former County Hurler Johnny (The Hurler) Keary.
Next having obtained Planning Permission from Westmeath County Council was the mammoth task of building our Community Centre and indoor Sports Complex which was completed and opened in 2005 by Dr. Tom Moore, who’s help and support made a dream into a reality. Our international size Basketball Court is equalled only by the one in Tallaght. |
